My experience with breast augmentation. MCV

Looking and feeling better, younger, more attractive is the main objective when deciding on having one of many plastic surgery procedures.  The way we look is a reflection of the way we feel.  A patient that came in for a consultation shared her experience and thoughts with us.

“At first I came in for consultation only.  I was interested in enhancing the size of my breasts since after breastfeeding I had lost almost all the volume my breasts used to have.  I wanted to look the way I did before having children, but I was concerned about size and any issue regarding health.

At consultation, I was able to ask as many questions as needed.  Fist safety issues were discussed.  After feeling better knowing that the implants were safe, that they would not be a cause for cancer or any other health related issues, the type of implant was selected.  Saline versus silicone, what should I choose?, was my next question.  I was told silicone implants have a softer feel, they look and feel more natural, and, saline implants deflate up to 30% in a year.  So, silicone implants were selected, and I am glad I did.

I was able to determine a proper size of the implant to be used by trying a few tester implants on, so I felt confortable with my decision.  Under or over the muscle?  Well, that is another important decision that must be made with your doctor.  Under the muscle, since I had practically no glandular tissue remaining.  But if you do have glandular tissue, under the muscle will give you a snoopy like look when the glandular tissue falls or droops over the implant giving a double breast.  So under the muscle only if you are very flat chested.

Postoperative care was simple.  Washing with just soap and water, using gauze for a few days.  I used a special surgical bra, made of a soft fabric day and night for a month.  I was told to start exercise after a month, as well as lifting anything heavy.  Lymphatic drainage massages were recommended during postoperative care, about every other day.  This is a very soft massage to the chest area, not directly on the breast that relieves swelling and inflammation and helps you recover quicker.  At first I was anxious about these, but they actually felt great.

At the end, I felt cared for, well advised in my decision making process and very satisfied with my results.  Everyone took time to listen and help with everything I needed and that made me feel very at ease.”  MCV
