Gynecomastia or male breast reduction

Men as well as women sometimes have excess breast tissue.  Yes, sometimes men also need a breast reduction.  Many times this breast tissue is predominantly glandular tissue.  Other times, it is mainly fat, but it doesn´t really matter what kind of tissue is present, it most commonly causes problems with self-esteem.  This procedure can be performed on young men as well as older men.

Gynecomastia or male breast reduction is the removal of breast tissue in men.  This can be performed by liposuction if the predominant tissue is fat.  This procedure involves a small incision not even an inch long and the removal of the fat by suction.

In the case of more glandular tissue surgical resection is required.  In this case an incision is placed around the nipple to remove the glandular tissue needed to remodel the chest.  Usually this technique is complemented with some liposuction, too, to detail the results.

A compression garment is to be worn for a month, to help with swelling and inflammation.  Lymphatic drainage massage is recommended to promote the elimination of fluids and reduce swelling faster.  Exercise can be started after a month, too.

This is an outpatient procedure, so you will be at the hospital for about 2 hours after your surgery and then you can go home to recover.  For overseas patients a recovery facility is the best place to be for the following week until stitches come out.
